Richard Everett Fox (1964 - present)

Based in Austin, Texas. Richard spent his adolescence in the small town of Clovis, New Mexico. Perched on the border of the Panhandle of Texas, the vastness and solitude of the Great Plains combined with the isolation created by small town attitudes launched the beginnings of Richard’s artistic journey. Now fully realized in Fox's NEW WORKS

Upon leaving Clovis, Richard attended the School of Fine Art at Texas Tech University Lubbock, TX.  During this period Richard was offered a position in art restoration with the Kress Collection, located in El Paso, TX.  This intimate personal experience and exposure would ignite his lifelong love of the Realist Masters and the male  form.

His love of the human condition and mastery in oil established at this point, Richard moved to post graduate work in Studio Art and Art History at The University of Texas to continue his pursuit of refining his technique. This can be evidenced in his current NEW WORKS.

This move brought Fox to Austin, TX.  Where he and his husband, Rick...and their two fur babies..call home to this day.

Fox continued to work in a variety of creative settings upon departing the University of Texas. This immense body of work: painting classical murals in private homes, commissioning works for private clients, designing custom furnishings, as well as, completing many portraits for bespoke clients. This catapulted him and his painterly technique to a level of technical skill found rarely in contemporary American art.

With the temperament of an old master, Richard employs traditional painters' tools and methods. His NEW WORKS reveal his lifelong fascination with the male human form, as well as, the human condition of those relegated to the fringes of society.

Augmented by his educational experience in art restoration at the Kress Collection, and love for the Realist masters. Fox’s NEW WORKS reveal insight of his personal journey and the quest for identity.

Richard brings to life moments of adolescence and young manhood that define our identities later in life.

The NEW WORKS delve deeply into the private emotional lives of the American male clamoring for a sense of identity...whether, tender, touching, or tragic. Fox welcomes the viewer an intimate look into the nuance of desire and sexual relevance in a hostile world. Richard bravely shares his experience against the backdrop of "Americana" as we've known it.
